The Zone Type Nutrition Program

The first step in finding your "optimum" eating plan is to assess your current situation. Take this simple test and if you answer "YES" to three or more of these questions, you may want to find out what and how to change your current habits.
  • Are you frequently or always hungry?
  • Are you irritable and moody?
  • Do constantly crave sweets?
  • Do you lose sleep or experience reduced mental clarity?
  • Do you get intestinal bloating after meals?
  • Do you have High Blood Pressure, Cholesterol or Triglycerides?
  • Do you have insomnia?
  • Do you have increased Body-Fat?
  • Do you have Heart Disease or a history of it in your Family?
  • Do you have Diabetes or is it in your family?
  • Do you eat Junk Food often?
  • Do you suffer from Asthma, allergies, dry and itching skin?
  • Do you have Joint Stiffness in the mornings?
  • Do you have Constipation or Diarrhea?

The Simplified Zone Type Diet

3 meals a day.  At each meal eat a piece of protein about the size of your palm.  Fill the rest of your plate with fruits and vegetables.  The fruits should not include melon or pineapple.  The Vegetables should not include potatoes rice corn or pasta.  Broccoli and cauliflower are great because they contain cancer fighting indole-3-carbinol.

3 snacks a day.  Apples, pears, carrots, celery, almonds, and walnuts are a great way to get you through to the next meal without loading on carbohydrates.

Use this as a general guide, and gradually institute these principals into your diet.  Remember, this is a diet for a lifetime not a fad flash in the pan weight loss program.  Keep food fun, and you will enjoy the fresh food that your body was meant to eat.
